Bhimavaram is a city in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh and is widely recognised as the shrimp capital of India. The region produces more vannamei shrimp per year than almost any other single location in the country. Surrounded by thousands of acres of scientifically managed aquaculture ponds fed by the Godavari delta's rich water systems, Bhimavaram's processing plants run year-round at full capacity.
